This is a super slack week, especially when classes are cancelled due to mid terms and Hari Raya. But I doubt I can enjoy the week especially when there is still so much work to be done.

Stats test on thursday is going to be a killer again. And I still need to do up that health psy case study. Oh man, I wished everything could be get over and done with as quickly as possible.

Luckily for me, I finished one bio psy paper today, so that is a load off my shoulders already.

Fort Knighter's had their first outing at Jurong Lake Park yesterday. This group was formed from all the fortnight surfing sessions at east coast. We managed to click so well since the windsurf camp that it feels like I already know them for a long time. Kudos to everyone for making my surfing sessions so cool and fun :)

It's the recess week! But I still cannot slow down my studying pace (especially after a demoralising social psy mid term test). It's bio psy and statistics immediately after the break, so I better study hard.

Anyway, I had a great day bringing the kids for navigation course in orchard as well as the Bukit Timah nature reserve recce session in the afternoon.

Theme parties were a common sight in Second Life. But this party was the first I ever organised for the university and I was glad everything turned out smoothly. My greatest appreciation to the exco members, Fang, Indra, Andcoireiel, Inochi, Gshan, McPriPree, Silva, Scoops as well as special guest, DJ Junz for heating up the dancefloor.

I hoped everyone enjoyed it as much as I do. I'll save more money to buy a tip-jar for all our future events. Haha. pardon for the poor quality photos, my graphics card not that good. I'll upload the better quality ones when I get them. These photos are just a sneak preview.

Was out at Jurong Service Centre to help out at the Open House together with the Gusto volunteers on sunday, and it was definitely a memorable one. I had a fun time interacting with the residents and played out the different games too.

I'm too tired to write out another post, so you can take a look at the photos from the Open house in the Club Gusto website. We are in the midst of preparing for the end of year camp, so if anyone is interested in volunteering with Club Gusto, you can sms/email me. I'll be glad to help.

It's time to get back to studies again. Still need to rush through the assignments due and prepare for the Second Life roadshow cum inworld party this coming thursday and friday. Anyone that has a SL account is welcomed to visit us at the NUS island. The ridgecats party will be held from 8-11, NUS dancefloor on 11 & 12 sept. The theme is "Orange/Blue" and we will be picking out the best dressed avatars then too.

Deadlines, Gusto camp planning and SL roadshow is tiring me out. I need some time off from everything (but I doubt there is enough time to sleep all day).

Ok, I shouldn't be complaining too much I'm doing things that I like (except the school assignments part), so I'll go through this entire stuff and get it over and done with soon.

I don't usually do photoblog but there were so many photos for this week from the 3 gathering, so I better let the photos speak for themselves (how much fun I had for the weekend).

Saturday was volunteering at Club Gusto @ Yuhua as usual but I met up with the primary school classmates at causeway point since our rare guest, Wang Ning was back from the States. He's going to graduate from Stanford in about 1.5 years so we can have more gathering then :)




The piece of paper above was actually the list of people in our class (we were trying to test our memory) and we succeeded in naming everyone, which was very much a surprise. Let's see if we can accomplish the feat of having a full class gathering again.

The next morning was the SMRT challenge 2008 and we woke up super early together with the 1750 people from all the teams. It was a fun event but the activities were a little *coughs too easy. haha. Even that, we didn't get first place instead we got 62 & 63 out of 250 teams. In consolation, we drew up our own $2000 prize money (as expected from the mixedrice).

Immediately after SMRT, I went on a camp recce with Gusto volunteers to MacRitchie reservoir for our end of year camp. Hike around for almost 3.5 hours and we totally immersed ourselves into the beautiful scenery there. A great time for volunteer bonding between the two schools.

After a hectic weekend, it's back to studying again. Ahhh... deadlines for work soon.

I'm now officially part of the NUS Second Life exco team as their in-world event organiser.

Haha, still wondering how come I got so hooked into SL that I even wanted to be part of them. But I do see a lot of potential in this new system. There is just so much stuff one can do inside that I'm neglecting my real life (basically staying at home and going online into SL)

Like what livideye (John) said about SL,"we wanted to make SL an integral part of the NUS virtual community. A place where students can enjoy their presence online and unleash their creativity to make NUS more lively and interactive."

I'm super impressed at the fact that NUS SL started out as a experimental platform to create a prototype to create the University town. Apparenlty, we get to design how the university is going to look like and the school might model the actual site according to the design. How cool is that!

No wonder so many developers are spending so much effort in NUS SL. So be part of the making. It could very well alter the face of NUS in the future.

The NUS Ridgecats

A pity that I'm a little too busy to fork out 5 weeks to attend this course, if not I'll definitely go for it. This is for Nus students who may be interested in forex exchange (which in my opinion better than investing in shares). Finally the investment club is conducting activities again.

No updates for almost a week because there is so little interesting stuff happening in school. Other than spending time mugging in the library, the only thing I wished to comment is "how come all the psychology textbook so expensive??" haha. Almost $50 per book and I had to buy all first hand because no one sells them on IVLE.

Windsurfing welcome tea is fun and I'm seriously considering whether to join in the new exco committee. The only drawback is whether I have time to study (really need to eat up these 5 textbooks to pass).

I just had to blog down this historical day in Singapore history because our women's table tennis team has finally brought glory by beating S.Korea to reach our first Olympic finals (meaning we are guaranteed a silver at least).

I watched the live telecast at home and this was definitely the best match I ever watched. Feng Tianwei was the heroine of the match, helping Singapore achieved this magnificant result. This 3+ hours match was so drama-filled and with heart-wrenching moments (because I almost thought we are gone after Wang Yue Gu and Li Jiawei lost to the S.Koreans).

Li Jiawei's match with Korean Kim Kyrungah was extremely fantastic because Kim's unique defense indeed caused so much pressure on Li. It was a battle of the wits which the commentators agreed as a "cat and mouse" game. Unfortunately Li lost in the end after fighting it out evenly until the very last match point.

Feng was in top form today and cruised past the first match before fighting it out with Park Mi-young and it was another highlight of the match.

p.s this is so much more exciting than Phelps 6th gold medal today (which I saw first hand on live-telecast. basically I'm around when Phelps won all the gold medal till now, so you can imagine what a big fan I am (and how much time I spent watching tv everyday)

After a disappointing start, Project X is revived yet again. This time round, the blog will now serve as my private own workstation for all my story plots, poetry, playscripts. But it's set in private right now since it is all part of my personal portfolio and I'm just to shy to share it around yet until I feel it meets a certain standard.

I'm still looking for contributors to the blog too. so if you're super interested in writing, do email/sms me and I'll send the invite over :)

But please don't spread the things u see inside around because it might very well be the novel I wanna get published in the future (if I managed to do that well) haha. I don't want to like end up in some stupid copyright infringement case (oh man, I must have watch too much TV these days)

School's starting and this sem is so gonna be super packed with all the higher level psy modules. Pray this time round I can successfully pull my cap score up even more.

I had so much fun working at the NUS Second Life booth @ the matric fair last week. Didn't have time to update because the photos are not ready yet. But I'm glad I manage to make friends with people from the SL team who taught me alot about the game.

We even had this cardbox craze when all of us transformed into cardbox people online. haha.

Windsurfing camp was fun and I wished it could last another day. After numerous attempts to surf out to the sea, I finally managed to get out of the stupid breakwater and come back in one piece. So motivated right now to go regularly to improve my surfing skills, but the travelling distance there is so omg.

Met a lot of SAW fans over in camp too, and we started coming up with our very own version of SAW V (public transport edition) where we put in sick mechanisms to ensure that drivers convert to public transport so that the roads will be less crowded, the air will be cleaner, the ERP will become lesser, fuel charges are lower...

Anyway, I just started work at the matriculation fair so I will be quite busy until next fri.

Away for Windsurfing Camp'08. Be back soon.

Met up with yanliong, nick, weichang and limin for dinner a few hours ago and as usual we spent so much time chatting about random stuff that we almost missed the train back again. Too bad zhirong wasn't around, otherwise he could have shared with us how he spends his money (this group of friends are probably the richest in my circle). I seriously can't imagine when I can ever come up with 13k for pilot training just for interest sake.

This indecisive problem seems to exist in almost all the group gatherings I participated, I wonder why (we took an hour to decide on the place to eat). But nevertheless, we had much fun talking about random movie reviews, the future of singapore, the rise and fall of civilisations, classified information, work, holiday retreats, wikipedia (yes, wikipedia), sociology vs political science etc.

But that is what makes our every conversation so attractive. It's what they call the "working society" talk. Conversations with lots of critical analysis and depth. It's a peek into the future after we graduate from university.
