The results are out and as usual, it fell short of my own expectations. I wasn't expecting much, only to get that 3.5 cap score so that I can have a chance to go for honours. arghh.... guess I'm not working harder enough.

On a side note, it is an improvement compared to my previous semester. At least there is no C this time round (and no A this time too). Maybe I should just go back to studying what I'm really good in (Geography) instead of doing all these modules with no basic background at all.

I remembered meeting my former classmate once, and she is quite shocked I didn't do geography either. But that's just me, I always prefer to do something new.

That's why I ended up being the jack of all trades, and a master of none. But I believe I'll make my mark someday.

My lousy phone is spoilt. So if anyone wants to contact me, either send me email, IM or call my house number. It's so inconvient without a handphone these days. I have almost forgotten the old times when I could survive without one. Technology has fully invaded my life. arghhh...

But yet again, another good reason to get a new one during this GSS sale!

Night-cycling yesterday night was tiring but fun. Despite being a 100% local, this is still the first time I travelled to these different places and routes. Felt a little guilty knowing that I know so little of my own homeland.

Basically we accomplished more than our expected distance, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. We travelled from east coast to geylang, to singapore flyer, to esplanade, to lau pat sat, to chinatown, to clarke quay, to orchard, to indoor stadium then back to east coast. Other than all the sore backs, arms and butts, everything is still quite successful. Kudos to the planners of this event, delon and xia.

Let's plan a different route next time. Photos will be up when I received them. I'm having high expectations of the high quality photos from that expensive SLR.

For now, it's supper time with my supper gang.

I live on the 9th floor and there was this power failure today that caused the entire lift system to stop working. I ended up having to climb up and down several times and this caused a lot of inconvenience.

I was panting like hell whenever I had to climb up these stairs (could also be due to my lack of exercise) and this power failure definitely made me realise how fortunate my life has been till now. We often take for granted the little things that made our life so much better and easier.

Fortunate Singaporeans like me should not complain about how slow the lift may take next time.

Nothing much to do these days. Can't seem to find any suitable job yet, so I'm basically staying at home surfing the net or at the gym.

Currently reading Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray ,which has been lying on the bookself since last year. This is also the book that I need to complete to fulfil the book quota for the month of May.

I'm quite pissed off after reading the newspaper these days. Especially when there are numerous reports of "fake" Red cross volunteers, looters, thieves and black-hearted medical personnels.

Apparently, these people have been trying to profit from the Sichuan earthquake, when so many others have lost their everything. Fake volunteers are collecting funds in the name of helping out the victims, looters are stopping vehicles sent to the affected zones and emptying truckloads of rations to be given to the victims, thieves stealing jewelleries from demolished buildings, and doctors asking for exorbitant fees for operations are making the headlines these days.

Just when I was praising those that rose beyond themselves to help those around, some others are doing this kind of immoral acts.

Wait till someday they experienced the helplessness when they needed help the most. Fancy them to steal from the victims. They deserve to go to hell.

After planning for the next session of Club Gusto in Yuhua and having visited CG in Yuying where I observed the kids interactions with the volunteers, I learnt more about the need for communication and patience from everyone there. I'm already full of anticipation about the kind of challenges that awaits me.

Today is the second day of the Sichuan Eathquake and reports have said that the death toll is currently at 20,000 (Lianhe Wanbao, 14.5.08). Seeing the photos of surviving members searching frantically for their loved ones brings a chill down my heart.

One of the articles in the paper that really shocked me was the one that says "Wenchuan 60,000 missing out of their total 100,000 population." I can't imagine almost the half the population in the city gone just like that.

This incident is so serious that even China's Premier Wen personally attended to the causalties in these affected areas.There is great difficulty sending aid to the less-known villages because most of them are in the mountainous regions and transportation is delayed due to poor weather conditions. Rescue workers are trekking on foot to these affected areas, but because of the lack of excavation machinery, they can only do it manually, thus longer time to save these buried people.

The strength of human character is put to the test.

While I penning down this in the blog, others are fighting for their lives in these areas. There must be something I can do to help these people.

The only thing I can do now is to look up at the sky and hope for the best.

My sisters' godmother came and visited us today and shared a lot of her overseas experience with me.

She has been an avid traveller since young and has travelled to lots of places, with groups and alone. She taught me a lot about her backpacking trips to NZ, Germany, Thailand, China, Japan, Malaysia and I'm really motivated to be like her. Being able to go to so many places to see the world is like a impossible dream for me, but she showed me that we can do lots of backpacking with limited budgets.

I'm really impressed by her adventurous spirit and she's inviting to me to go Xiamen together in 2 weeks time. Hmm... It's a little rush with the bangkok trip soon and so little time to prepare, so I'm still hesitant.

But she told me there isn't really a lot to prepare, just do it. She just decided to go like 2 days ago.

Wow. When can I ever be that decisive in the things I do?

Having attended the talk by Kelvin (a fellow volunteer for almost 30 years), I'm inspired by his passion and committment to his responsibilities. Someday I wish to be the one to share my experiences as a volunteer too.

The organisation I joined this time is pretty different from the usual volunteering services. There is more responsibility on the role of the volunteers themselves because the staff at CDAC only support the activities, not the other way round, where the staff plan events and look for volunteers to carry it out. We are the ones who plan for the weekly events in the school so that these students can carry out their NYAA activities.

There is a shortage of volunteers right now, because we (currently 3 person) are starting out everything from scratch in the new school. So anyone who feels like volunteering and is able to commit their saturdays to do so please contact me.

On the side note, even though the activities are held on saturdays (10-1), the planning is much more complicated and time consuming.

But I'm not giving it up yet.

The exams are finally over!

Now I have the time to catch up on the fun activities that I neglected. Windsurfing is the top of the list and I wanna go out and enjoy the sun, the beach and the sea once again. Reading fiction books is also something I promised myself to do every month too. Bangkok trip is still a month away and I'm already full of anticipation and excitment.

Of course, other than volunteering and outdoor activities, I still need to find a job so I can still keep up the expensive hobbies. So I appreciate any recommendations for jobs.

That's all for now, I catching up on the One Piece anime that I missed out during the exam period. It's going to be a great week ahead (I hope so)!

Today's psychology paper is probably the hardest paper for my entire exam. First there is the negative marking for the 100 MCQs , then the short answer section they expect half a page answer for 5 questions worth 10 marks each. No choice is given so I have to do it no matter what.

One of the question was like " A new virus affects the cellular wall of a neuron in the occipital lobe of the brain. The virus causes the neuron wall to become "leaky" during the process. 1)When the neuron is at rest (eg. not firing), does sodium ions leak out of the neuron or leak into the neuron? 2) The virus causes a one of the senses (sight, smell, hearing, taste etc) to suffer from a defect, identify which human sensory experience is disrupted by this new virus and what are the consequences on this person's sensory experience?" [10 marks]

I forgot what is the exact phrasing of this question since I couldn't get to keep the question paper, but it should be something like this.

I seriously have no idea how to "smoke" half a page to answer this. I wrote like 3 lines :x

My weekend life has sure gotten more meaningful after signing for volunteer work.

And this is not the usual old-folks home/orphanage visit. Instead this is a mentoring session with students, helping them develop their potential through the NYAA award activities like (1) physical recreation and sports, (2) community service, (3) expedition/exploration, (4) skills development.

This means I'll be joining in the fun with them. Lol. A little pity that I'm not doing the NYAA Gold when there are so activities around in school for me to join.
